
BYD has officially launched the Sealion 07 DM-i, a mid-to-large-size plug-in hybrid SUV, expanding its Ocean series lineup. This new model is a sister to the all-electric Sealion 07 EV and marks the fourth addition to the Sealion family. The vehicle is available in three variants, with prices ranging from RMB 169,800 to RMB 205,800 (approximately $23,460 to $28,500) .
The Sealion 07 DM-i is built on BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology (DM 5.0), introduced in May 2024, which offers improved fuel efficiency. It features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 115 kW of peak power and 225 Nm of torque. The two lower-priced, front-wheel-drive variants are equipped with a single electric motor delivering 200 kW and 315 Nm, achieving 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds. The top-tier variant adds a rear motor with 150 kW and 340 Nm, enabling all-wheel drive and a quicker 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds .

All versions come standard with BYD’s Blade battery pack, offering a capacity of 26.6 kWh. This provides a CLTC-rated pure electric range between 135 km and 150 km. When combining the battery with the 60-liter fuel tank, the hybrid SUV boasts a total range of up to 1,320 kilometers
The Sealion 07 DM-i incorporates BYD’s latest technological advancements. The two lower-priced variants feature the “God’s Eye C” driver assistance system with DiPilot 100, supporting Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) for highways. The highest-priced variant upgrades to “God’s Eye B” with DiPilot 300, extending NOA capabilities to urban environments. The vehicle’s infotainment system, DiLink 100, includes a virtual voice assistant powered by DeepSeek’s AI models for enhanced user interaction.

An optional feature for the Sealion 07 DM-i is the Ling Yuan drone system, developed in collaboration with DJI and introduced in March 2025. This system integrates a drone hangar into the vehicle, allowing for unique aerial capabilities .
The Sealion family has shown strong market performance, with sales reaching 26,220 units in April 2025, a 44.66% increase from March . BYD’s overall NEV (New Energy Vehicle) sales for April totaled 380,089 units, marking a 21.34% year-on-year growth .

With its competitive pricing, advanced hybrid technology, and innovative features, the Sealion 07 DM-i positions BYD to strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets.
